For Palomar College Board

Dear Neighbor,

Education is the single most important vehicle to improve one's life. With a good education, there is no limit to how far you can go, no obstacle you can’t overcome, or anything you can’t accomplish. Which is why our local educational institutions are crucial.

Unfortunately, our local community college has faced significant financial obstacles in recent years, we have seen declining enrollment and we are failing to prepare the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. Yet, in the face of these immense challenges, Palomar has become embroiled in politics and divisiveness.

This is nothing new. Much like what is happening at Palomar, in 2020, rather than working to improve educational outcomes for all California students, partisan activists in the State Legislature focused their energy on a political, divisive attempt to bring race-based admissions back to California colleges and universities. I played an instrumental role in organizing the successful state-wide campaign that resoundingly defeated the racial-preference ballot measure, Prop. 16. Over 57.2% of the California electorate joined us in voting for equality and as a result, educators, staff members, and students must be treated equally with integrity and dignity, and without regard to their race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin.

But that fight is not over.

I have decided to run for the Palomar Community College Governing Board, to likewise put an end to the race-obsessed identity politics dominating the conversation and re-focus the district on the things that matter– improving the quality of education for our students and preparing them for successful careers.

I look forward to meeting you in the months to come and I would be honored to have your vote.
